In the night of  the 24th to the 25th the stat server had problems. Gillian was awaked at 01:00 am by our monitoring system. He repatriated the whole of the logs files on another server. Yesterday we tried to start again the stat server without success.

Thus we changed of method and we launched 3 servers to calculate the statistics.

These 3 servers calculate a day of stat in 10 hours. But 6 days of stat miss since November 24, a simple mutiplication show that it will take 60 hours of calculations to arrive at today.

New hosting
We thought putting in place the new server architecture the last week in order to sort out slowings whitch appear at the time of rush hour and to prepare the arrival of video content by increasing your capacity.

But we learned that the society who hosts our bay encounters big internal problems. Their technical support is almost unavailable. We don't know if these problems will be regulated but we don't want to take the risk of install a new server architecture in a failing operator.

We searched a new operator able to host our bay and to give the required guarantees, mid-November we signed a renting contract for a new bay in the Redbus data center (with another operator).

We decided to defer the installation of the new hosting architecture while waiting for the provision of this new bay. In order to put in place definitely our new hosting platform.

Phase 1 :
We move the machines in the night of Friday 25 to Saturday 26 (2 disconnection hours during the night from 00:00 pm).

Phase 2:
We put in place the new server architecture in the night of Friday 1 to Saturday 2 December. (1/2 disconnection hour during the night from 00:00)

The operation will permit to:

  • Accelerate the posting of the pages,
  • Offer video capacities in all sites,
  • Have a reliable hosting.

The arrival of Google Analytics
After the arrival of Google statistics service some among you asked if we could give you the possibility of inserting a code in HEAD tags.

Indeed if you want to insert a Javascript code you will have to place a part of this code in the HEAD tag of your site.

Now the "References" menu (in the menu > HEAD tag) permits to change the content of this tags. Thus you can test this statistics service : Google Analytics.

PS : This time, it's for everybody including Blogs!

Portail Xpert & Profiling
We realized that the Xert offer which proposes group mono in profiling was a little limiting. Indeed the use of only one group didn't permit to use the functionality fully.

We have just authorized the creation of a group in this offer to exploit fully the profiling functionality. Consequently a small problem disappears and permits the export of groups in CSV format.

It's only for the vertical and scrolling News module.
We have just updated this module in X-HTML and its operation changes. In fact it isn't any more the number of news simultaneous which automatically determines (more or less well) the height of the module. Now you can configurated as you want the height of the module.

The developers team often names scripts or functionnalities by rather complicated names. This time we had right to the Mega Fusion.

The Mega Fusion
But what is it exactly?
This is fusion of 11 differents scripts from management which have been just unified in a single file.

All occurs in management and the pages concerned are Whrite/Modify articles – HTML pages – notes – presentation page – Blogs and scrooker (Blogs).

What it is used for exactly?
It will allow us to extend functionnalities from blogs to portal and vice-versa soon. As well it prepares the arrival of a new functionnality certainly available in weekend.

Break in characters and Summary
The break in characters and / or the summary are used in five modules (of your home) and permit to dysplay a small text extract accompanying the title of your article.

The breaks in characters use the X first characters of your summary whereas the summary replaces the break in characters and is dysplayed in its entirety.

From now on, the breaks in chararcters wont dysplay anymore any page-setting contrary to the summary which will interpret as well the HTML as the owners tags. Thus we advise you to also use the summary if you want to dysplay the links or the configuration of these small text extracts.

Why this modification?
The answer the next week :)

We only say to you that the 5 modules concerned are the Front page, Latest articles, Rubrics in the front page, navigation page and the Newsletter.

X-HTML : The hidden revolution
As we announced it at the beginning of September, we started the recasting of the sites in the Xhtml 1.1 standard.

It's an essential work which involves the rewriting of the WM engine of posting. Currently we have restructured 20 % of the modules of your sites. But with the experience the rate of development increase these last days. Mid-November all sites should respect the W3C standard.

Our method consists in a validation of module by module. Currently yours sites contain both rewriting modules in the Xhtml 1.1 standard and the previous modules optimized for a IE display.

Even if at this moment this work is relatively transparent for you, at the end you will take advantage of this recasting.
