HQ video encoding

Jerome Granados

Here is a new video feature : HIGH QUALITY video encoding

Before going deeper in any explanation, let's see 2 examples of the same video. The first is encoded in standard quality, the second in High Quality. To see the difference, you 'd better switch to full-screen mode when playing the videos.

High Quality

To turn on HQ encoding, go to MANAGEMENT > Settings > Video

When HQ is turned on, the encoding parameters are modified as followed :
- 448 X 336 instead of 320 X 240 in standard (4/3 format)
- 614 X 344 instead of 427 X 240 in standard (16/9 format)

Regarding the size of the files encoded in HQ, here's an example:
Video input: 4.9 MB
Standard quality: 3MB
High Quality: 4.3 MB

To give you the opportunity to take full advantage of HQ encoding, we have increased the upload size limit from 100 MB to 150 MB. By the way, we optimize the encoding process for large files.

Finally, if you use the uploader, remember to check your domain name installation. If it is not correct, you will not be able to upload videos with this tool.
