This post will please our Blog+ subscribers. We've added a very interesting functionality which permits generating incomes from your website: the insertion of advertising between your blog posts.

More precisely, we've overhauled totally the "my posts" module. Thanks to this module, a simply solution to display advertising is available to you. It's an alternative to the use of the container module or the advertising manager webservice ( available from the Xpert portal ).

In the "my posts" module > functionnalities > more parameters you'll find a field to add your advertising between your posts. Insert text or html code in this field.

Two options for your advertising display:

1. Every other post. It's the upper image exemple. In this exemple I display an advertising marquee stocked in DESIGN> my documents.

2. Only below the first 2 posts. We recommand you use this option if you want to display some adsense. It will permit recpect the google conditions of use, that limit the display number of adsense blocks, on a same page.

Below, a screen capture of the module parameters.

Other improvements for the module

In the module former version, a lot of design options were dispatched in the functionality and font menus.

We've gathered all those options in the DESIGN menu, which is now richer.
In this menu you'll find a color selection palette and your choice visual preview.
The wallpaper choice is also available in Design, opening the module skin options.

Last point, the skin module has been divided in 3 zones.

the header zone: it contains the post title

the center zone: the post body

the footer zone: this zone contains the publication information (author, date, comments,...)

Be carefull not to confuse with the module footer

We're very proud we've found out today that Ajaccio city website is classified in the top ten of public information online accesibility.

Why underline it? Simply because Ajaccio.fr is wmaker's and the rank established by public sector socities and IP-label is based on an evaluation of the technic perfomances of the website. This evaluation is also based on the quality and easy access to the information it contains.

Overhauling ajaccio.fr website, we've worked hard on the best way to organise the city website information. It results a not deep tree structure ( 1 level maximum), and the add of a top and bottom bar to reach directly all contents.

The quality of the city service editorial production, and the WM application architectural performances permitted to obtain this great rank. See you next year!

Here's a display mode for the headlines section module, that many of you waited for: articles displayed in different tabs. Here's an exemple www.jtexplique.fr

To use this display mode, it's as simple as going in the DESIGN page in the backoffice. If it's not already done, add an "headlines section" module in a column of your website.

In the functionnalities menu of your module, choose the display tab. There you'll find the "tab" display mode. Border and background color choice is available in the font menu.

With this display type, you will be able to compete against the biggest online daily newspapers!
After some vacations, we're ready to continue our V4 rise to power schedule!

As pointed several times on the blog, V3 has been a very good wmaker version, but the improvement to V4 was necessary, in order to plan more audacious developments for your favorite CMS.

From the start of 2008, we've focused on The V4 stabilisation and on achieving a first roadmap.

Some of the biggest parts of this roadmap are about to be finished for september ( such as SNS and classified ads). The rest is going to be done in the same breath.

In the same time, we're going to resume the overhauling of the various display modules. This week, the "headlines section" module has the place of honor. Remember, we stoppped at "horizontal scrolling " display mode...
Well, it's not finished! See you for new improvements... in a new post! ;)

We announced few time ago, that we were working on a new video uploader version. This really practical tool is now available.

Design

The striking change is the design.

We're proposing you a brand new interface, way cleaner.

About the video adding possibilities, you can still find the slide/place, or the possibility to open a new dialogue window to browse the computer, from the + key.

Connection stabilization

The connection between the uploader and your website has been stabilized. If ever a connection error would show up, it would be documented, in opposition to the former version. You would be able then to identify the disconnection source.

Mac and PC Compatibility.

The last uploader version worked only on PC. Mac OS X Tiger and Leopard can use the V2 Uploader too.

Identical Use

The new uploader works the same way as the former one. Here's a reminder of the previous steps to achieve to get it.

1 - install ADOBE AIR.

2 - Install the new uploader version. The instal file is available in MANAGEMENT > Editorial staff >other publication methods > "uploader" tab

3 - Open your website publication API. MANAGEMENT > Editorial staff >other publication methods > "API" tab

4 - Choose the section in which will be placed the videos sent by the uploader.

Then, anytime you'll send a video from the uploader, a new article will be created. Its status will be "pending", and the video name will temporally be the article name.

You'll have all the time to perfectionnate your content and article layout, in order to highlight your video.

Durind summmer, Christian is going to improve WM platform with new video functionnalities.

We start now putting in-line a player update.

Export Menu ergonomics improved

Export Menu ergonomics has been improved:

Choose the player size from 4 cases to check. If the video is 4/3, choose 4/3, if it's 16/9, choose 16/9.

The copy button permits copying code in the clipboard. It's really more practical.

Last point concerning the video export : you can decide whether or not you want to authorize it. This parameter can be found in MANAGEMENT> parameters> video. If export is forbidden, an informative message is displayed in the player.

Choice of watermark position

The watermark is the 100px maximum width png image that displays overlay on the video.

Until then, it was placed on the right top corner of the player. From now, you can decide to place it on one of the four corners

Technical improvements

There were a very annoying bug in the playlist. Sometimes, it displayed before the video started. From now, it is corrected.

We also improved the video lecture conditions.

Before, the player worked in buffering. When the video started, the player started the loading of the whole video. Now, the player works in streaming. When you navigate in the video, the player is loading only the part of the video required for the lecture.
Resulting a much smoothier navigation and also an optimisation the bandwidth use.

Each block is composed of:
- the section name
- the thumbnail of the first block article.
- the article title
- the other article titles, if you chose to display more than an article per headlines section.

The originality of this display type is that users can scroll the blocks to the left or to the right, using the dedicated side arrows.

Little tip: you can use the headlines section module in the footer or in the title zone. With the horizontal scrolling display type, as it is shown in the first picture of this article, it can be very gorgeous.

Pro users, are you aware of the possibilities offered by the susbcription options in order to generate income from your content?

2 subscription set exist. The by point subscription works like this: you users buy some points, they use them to reach the restricted areas of your website. Everytime they consult an article, the number of points you allocated to the article is subtracted from their points. It's the electroning purse principle applied to your content.

Little precision, the by-points subscription can't match with other payment options (micro payment, lenght subscription). However, it's is certainly the most supple option for your users.

You sent us a lot of comments about the lenght subscription, so that we will work on it this summer in order to solve them by september.
It's a quite visual module, but it displays more information than modern 3.

Thus, with modern 4, you can display the article title and publication information (date, author) on top of the photo, and the article starting at the bottom (respecting the breaks you chose)
Today starts the launch of a series of news related to the "headlines section module"

In order to give you more presentation options, we'll put online new display styles during this summer.

Classical 16/9

We start this week proposing Classical 16/9. It's a variant of the display style we proposed you until then.

The article Thumbnails are in 16/9 instead of 3/4. The image above gives an exemple of what it looks like in the new swiss template.

For a full-size exemple, have a look at Jobetic homepage.

Ergonomic modifications in the back office

The setting interface of headlines section module is evolving, in the back office.

From now, the ibox functionnalities menu has 2 tabs.

The first one gathers all that's related with the content, and the second one permits to choose the module display mode.

Also note the appearance of new functionnalities such as the possibility to display the comments, or the separator style choice in the general settings of the design menu.

See you soon for new improvements in this module ;)
