The Webservice Package is a set of functionnalities that we systematically add in all Webservices.
Here's what it contains:
- Hosting: application of the URL rewritting for webservice categories and elements.
- Position determination technology: Google Maps service used to position on a map the webservices elements.
- Presentation: the webservice homepage presents the last active elements
- SNS: the elements posted by members are automatically taken up in their SNS profile activity flow.

Yesterday, releasing the Move On Template, I promised to detail a little more the novelties brought to the Archive module.
We've studied this module that one of the most used on your sites. I quickly remind you its principle: display the last publications first.
The "Archive" name wasn't that appropriate. It suggested old news while it contains brand new ones.
We renamed it "Go with the Flow", an expression that matches better with the French name: "Au Fil de l'eau"

This week, we are going to impress you with the new template: Move On.
Rythm, music, originality... this template is simply amazing. Personnaly, I do like it and I congratulate Lesia. She achieved a superb creation.
Indeed, this template is more dedicated to a personnal magazine than to a business one, but like that we have something to suit every taste.
You will appreciate the nice color palette, but also a great novelty in the archive module: the block-type display.
I'll tell you more later about the novelty in archive. Meanwhile, I let you discover Move On .

The tag management can quickly turn into a brain teaser. Indeed, in a website tags multiply so fast! Thus, quickly, there's a risk to make the tag display inadequate or even unefficient: to much tags, similar tags that we want to gather, necessary tag melting,...
There's a lot of things we would like to do to manage our tags. Even more when there are several editors for a same site, each managing diferently the tags.
No worry, WMaker comes to the rescue! A new menu has just appeared in the back office: tag group!

We went further than we planed in the WM architecture optimization phase.
In fact, 5 persons have worked for a month on the improvement of the display speed of your sites and management interface.

For some weeks, we're encounting a burning issue concerning the newletters.
We had to take it in charge in a rush.
Some clients use the newsletter system for commercial mailing. This really
is a problem that leads to annoyances for the whole WM community.
Today, Jérôme and Greg are working on the achitecture evolution in the data center DC1.
It's a new-generation datacenter made up by the OVH firm. Its particularity is to consume 30% less energy than a classical datacenter.
They are setting up 10 of those new SUN X2250 servers. They are low consumption. Their processors eat only 50W, compared with the almost 95 W of the last generation.
We've also chose energy-effective hard disks, after having tested flash SSD memoy disks, which revealed not that efficient finally... Thus we adopted for more classical disks, they are Velocity Raptors. They permit saving some Watts a server, against the former Raptor disks we were using before.
Anywhere we can we're opting for a low consumption material. During those financial crisis times, we don't want to ignore the environmental issue, we're keeping our line ;-)
It's also an economic choice because optimizing our consumption, we can set up more servers in a bay. When economic choices match with environmental choices, there's no reason to hesitate, we go for it!

Web server, SQL server, file server, ... it's so not pleasant being a server at WMaker, trust me. Why? Few figures will illustrate the efforts suffered by our 30 physical machines (equivalent to 120 virtual machines). In short, here's what we require that they do to get your websites to be the most pleasant to visit and manage :
- serve 2,5 million pages a day,
- beat back 10 span attacks on the mails each second.
- block 1 robot intrusion attempt each second
- Stop the spam publication in comments, trackbacks, forums, forms,... About that, we thank the users that warn us about the messages that go through the stops, it permits us to be more watchful.
Add to this the SNS, the new headlines modules and the video, and you'll find yourself with always heavier pages, so more work for the servers. Because, it may not be obvious but, for few months, the bandwidth use is hugely increasing.
It's normal, and very good news! It means that your sites are successful, that your users are greatly communicating, in short... that they feel good at your's.
The application is evolving a lot and so we need to do a little break in the newness, in order to optimize the whole thing and keep the bases strong.
We've decided to hunt down the response time. Our goal: improve the architecture performances to optimize the page service.
To do so, it's necessary to work on many levels. Those operations are invisible to the user but are very important for the application global functionning.

For the end of the week, We're proposing you the UNIVERSE template.
This template is a Business world template variante. As laurent rightly pointed, we got used to suggest mostly templates with clear background colors.
So we're making a change with UNIVERSE and its black background... We promise, we'll be more carefull, and from now we'll suit all tastes ;)

After more than 4 years of true and tried service, the V3 bows out.
The V3 shutdown has been suggested when the V4 launched officially , on January the 22th of 2008. Back then, existed in your backs a "back to V3" link which enabled the easy switch between V3 and v4.
Then, to gently start the transition, on June the 9th of 2008, we've removed this "back to V3" link. For this occasion, we've opened a subject in the forum to get your suggestions before the V3 shutdown, announced for the end of the summer 2008.
So, it is time now for the V3 to close.
It's not so much the end of the summer that encouraged us to close the V3 as the improvement of the V4 with new functionalities.
The new services appearance, as the SNS for an exemple, doesn't permit the match between V3 and V4, without pertubing your website.
Indeed, against your will, the modifications you do from V3 lead sometimes to problems on your websites. This is simply due to the fact that the V3 doesn't improve anymore. It doesn't enable to manage the new functionalities.
It's time to hand over. Goodbye V3 ;)
