This week, Lesia and Seb2 worked together to spruce up the access to restricted content on your sites.
The improvements that were made concern the back, ergonomics and the display on the site. in this note, we will detail all of these new improvements :)

Here they are! At last, they managed to get to Barcelona for the Mobile World Congress! Not an easy task, due to the bad weather :/

For this trip, they splitted the team in two. Jerome and Dominique took the plane Sunday morning from Ajaccio by Lyon. Sebastien, Laurent, Jim & Mathieu took the boat Sunday evenning to Marseille, and drove to Barcelona.

There was snow in Ajaccio, Corsica, and they were not sure that the plane could take off. The flight has been delayed more than two hours, but eventually everything went fine. They took their connecting flight in Lyon, and then off to Barcelona :)

This year, the event sounds awesone, and the new venue, Fira Gran Via, is far bigger than Fira Montjuic where it took place last years.

On the web, attacks happen every day, they are various, increasingly frequent and aggressive. Each day, we analyse and redirect more than 8 million pages. At WMaker it is Gregory and Pierre-Laurent who are in charge of protecting you. Of course Samir who's in charge of the video cloud  is never far away. The development team designed each line of WMaker CMS code, it allows them to react quickly in case of problems of either security or reporting.

You are more likely to upload pictures from your mobile. This morning Laurent decided to fix a little problem with the pictures taken with an iPhone (Portrait / Landscape).

For instance, above: yesterday Jérôme took a pictures with his iPhone (portrait mode) of his wife parking fine. When he looks at the picture in  Windows Photo Viewer, the fine appears in landscape and not portrait, in your blog it was the same, until this morning!

The correction is applied on article pictures and thumbnails, pictures and thumbnails of the gallery and attachments of the publication by email.

Yesterday evening around 7.40pm, some of your users from the other side of the Atlantic may have had some troubles to access your site. And for good reason. A fiber optic link at OVH, our internet service provider has been broken. This disrupted the traffic between our infrastructure and North America for 5 minutes.

For a lot of people from the WM team, this incident resulted in the receiption of a beautiful burst of text messages! Indeed, the architecture is monitored by several WMaker control system, both internal and external. Once a discrepancy is found, we immediately receive notifications.

Yesterday, Jérôme, Pierre-Laurent and Greg were at the datacenter to achieve a major update of WMaker architecture. This is the outcome of a long process and hard work of our technical team but also of our collaboration with OVH to increase our strength and reliability.

All network devices have been changed, so, obviously, we had to disconnect them from the internet network. We were disconnected duecorded a total disconnection of one hour. The maintenance was over at around 10pm last night, all the lights are now super green. We are now directly connected with fiber optic to the core network, with 2 links of 10 Gb/s! This multiplied by 20 WMaker connection speed to the internet.
